Event Opportunities

We have four areas of opportunities for you to participate in: Sponsorship, Announcers, Volunteer Staff and Tournament Referees.

Sponsorship

We have many areas of sponsorship available: equipment provision, tournament sponsorship, door prizes and give-aways, player packages and refreshments. All of our sponsors will be acknowledged on Digital Storm’s website and in all promotional material, including posters and player packages. Display space will be provided at the LAN for banners and posters, as well as limited exhibit space for those who request it. Any sponsors who are confirmed in writing prior to July 1, 2008 will have their logo included on the backs of our event t-shirts.

1. Equipment Provision - Digital Storm LAN has need of Xbox 360 units with monitors or TV screens and games, network hubs, switches and cabling, servers. All equipment will be returned following the LAN.

2. Tournament Prizes - What is a tournament without prizes? Sponsors are needed for each of the major tournaments, such as the World Cyber Game qualifiers, as well as other tournaments to be held over the course of the weekend. Some tournaments are single player games such as Dawn of War, Starcraft and Project Gotham Racing, while others are team events such as Counter Strike, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 to name but a few. We ask that those who wish to sponsor specific tournaments provide prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Please note that team events will require a prize for each team player - some game teams are comprised of 4 team members such as Gears of War, while others such as Counter Strike involve teams of 5 players each.

3. Door Prizes and Give-Aways - We will be conducting random prize draws throughout the event. These draws will be open to both gamers and volunteers. These types of random prizes have gone over very well at our previous events.

4. Player Packages - These will be given to players upon their arrival at Digital Storm, and will include such items as a lanyard and badge holder for their tournament passes, information about the area, sponsor information and tournament schedule. There are opportunities here in the way of lanyard provision, gadgets with your logo on, such as glowing medallions, stickers, mouse pads, or even the bag itself which will hold all of the package contents. There is also print space on the backs of the player passes for a company name and logo if anyone wishes to sponsor the cost of the passes, which are credit card size and made of plastic.

5. Refreshments - while the Croatian Cultural Centre will be offering a cash snack bar, there is plenty of opportunity to get your energy drink or other product to the gamer populace who will be attending Digital Storm. Tournament attendees could make for a perfect test market group for the right products.

Announcers (emcees)

Our emcees would ideally have some type of DJ or event announcing experience, as they will be announcing prize winners, the start of tournaments, make general announcements, entertain the troops, and perhaps “call a bit of the action” as matches unfold on the big screens.

Volunteer Staff

An event is only as successful as the people helping to run it. We have several opportunities for those who would like to help out - we’re looking for approximately 18-24 people for various areas:

Player Check-in: Make sure that the gamers show up with their passes, waivers, registration forms and for those 16 and under, the parental consent form.
Set-up: Assist in setting up the LAN network and in hooking up gamers as they arrive at the LAN
LAN Operations: Assist players during the LAN, help with door prizes, security, scorekeeping etc.
Clean-up: Assist in Player check-out and clean up after the LAN is over. This would include dismantling the LAN network.
Sponsor & Media Co-ordinators: Assist any sponsors and members of the media who are on-site.
Website: Forum moderators and information assistants

Referees

Overseeing of the tournaments - especially the WCG qualifiers to ensure that there is fair play and that tournament rules are followed.
